I hate plastic CD cases, the booklets always get stuck and the cases crack. I much prefer the digipak e.g. the recent Yes Rhino remasters (apart from Going For The One, which strangely reverted to a plastic case).

Which do you prefer?

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of those. I've got the Beatles Capitol box set which is like that. I've also got Simple Minds "Belfast Child" which is a tiny CD in a tiny case (and needs an adaptor to play on some players).

At least when plastic breaks you can replace it. When digipak gets torn...

Plastic

I can be considered a child, does that mean plastic should be taken away from me?

I like the plastic covers and those mini-record sleeve import ones. Digipak is my least favourite- they're too flimsy, but they look really nice.

I have Queen - Jazz and ADatR as little "fake" vinyls, they're Japan imports. Pretty cool ... but unfortunately they don't really fit in my CD shelf.

I only have Gentle Giant's first on mini-LP

I'll probably buy some more soon (maybe the "Dream Theater - Live At The Marquee" mini-LP, japan import)

A friend of mine have King Crimson - Starless & Bible Black on mini-LP

I buy the mini-lp papersleeves whenever I can! Just did that with Zeppelin and VDGG! I was lucky enough not to have rebought those albums as Cds before. All good things sometimes fall to those that wait for them.(Rudy in Crime Of The Century)

I get almost the same thrill with those vinyl replicas , that I did with the original vinyl Lps.

I have most classic Genesis , VDgg, Gong, Zep ,Tull ,  Crimson , some Yes etc...
but since they sooooo expensive.....I only buy the ones I consider real classics and I generally try to buy only the Gatefold sleeves and even then, the artwork that is truly impressive.

I was not satisfied with the quality of ELP and Sabbath papersleeves and did not indulge on the Caravan (although the early albums were truly impressive ) because the colours were notrespected. This is especially true for If I Could.... where there was too much green (even the sky behing the trees was a bit green) and ITLOGAP where the pink was much too violent.

That's strange you quote the Rhino Yes Remasters, as ALL mine are in plastic cases, except CTTE, which is digipack...yours must have been first come first served ltd editions!

Having said that, I prefer plastic, as digipacks can look a bit tatty after a while if they are played regularly.

^ I rarely ever play the CDs, so I'll always prefer Digipack.

(I rip them to WMA Lossless when I buy them and only take them out of the shelf occasionally to browse the lyrics or read the booklet)

and I bet you keep them behind a locked, reinforced glass cabinet, with the keys in a safe deposit box at your local bank....
