Do you think that sometimes lyrics are more important that music itself in prog?

I'm thinking about a short one from Jethro Tull: Grace (35 secs):

"Hallo Sun

Hallo Bird,

Hallo My Lady,

Hallo Breakfast,

May I Buy

You Again

Tomorrow..."

This is the first time I've noticed you on the forum. Can I just say that you have been posting some great reviews recently! Clap Great avatar (BJH) too.

I can't think of many situations where the lyrics are more important. In fact, my enjoyment of Italian prog is not diminished by my ignorance of that language.

Lyrics can be more important when sound like music itself. It happens, IMO, for many reasons:

language's purity

language's research

musicality of the chosen words

words' pronunciation (I don't mean singing's modus...that's only the icing on the cake!)

voice's tone (I like deep voices like Ian Anderson, but also the voice of D. Cousin of Strawbs is great because it is in symbiosis with his musical genre).

Contradictory album, some lyrics are great, some not very good. Some songs are ok, some are...

I find that the only reason lyrics are ever more important than the music is when a song is driven by the lyrics and the music serves as just a theme or a backing for the message in the lyrics. I can't think of any prog examples i've heard, more soft rock, pop, or rap.
