Today I made this compilation of my 5 currently (for about 2 years now) most loved bands:

others rarely come close...

Feel free to post your own list of 5 or however many bands you feel are the most awesome in your ears at the moment. :)

Most awesome in my own ears at the moment? That certainly opens things up a little. No fancy graphic like in your post, but here are five prog bands that I've been giving extra special attention to lately, or have gained a newly found appreciation for within the past little while:

Cherry Five
Crucis
Il Balletto Di Bronzo
Quella Vecchia Locanda
Van der Graaf Generator

A bit of a change of pace from my all-time triumvirate of Yes, King Crimson, and Bubu - all 3 of which I have still been digging day to day recently.

hey, great list! you got my point!
i dont know most of your though...

I would't be able to post an alltime triumvirate, however measured by the time and amount of joy they gave me it probably would be somehting like: Metallica, Rammstein and Dream Theater for me ;) - but I can't enjoy them that much anymore..

Riverside
IQ
The Neal Morse Band
Transatlantic
Haken

Past few months it's probably been the various bands Ricinn is involved in (Ricinn, Oxxo Xoox, Corpo Mente, Igorrr, etc.), Leprous, Dissona, Dear Hunter, and Devin Townsend.

Van Der Graaf Generator
Don Cherry
Earth
Tangerine Dream (70's only)
Einsturzende Neubauten

Top three is pretty stable. There aren't many artists where I enjoy a vast range of their work, even most of these are based mainly on the quality of two or three albums. Album and song lists make much more sense to me than artist lists.

I've started to love Alice in Chains for some reason, but I don't like the scene they're generally mashed with, so it confuses me a bit.

Welcome, soljacques8! Lots of good ol' 70s prog in your list! Porcupine Tree and Pineapple Thief of course are more recent. Keep listening and exploring similar (or different) artists - so many here in Prog Archives to choose from...

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. The archives are an immense resource. Sometimes I will go into it, pick a few bands and sample their work. It's led me to discover music I never would have otherwise discovered.

In the last three years I have been hearing almost non-stop all three Anglagard albums.

Of course, I listen other stuff, but at least once a week I listen to Viljans Oga or Hybris or Epilog.

... and that made me search for similar stuff and found out Wobbler !! (that I love, but not so much as Anglagard).

I concur.. They've been repeated for me as well, quite a lot. If you like Crucis, I'd recommend Alas from Argentina (as well). I listened to Crucis' debut just yesterday!!

I'd add Henry Cow to the list, they've blown me away recently. And it took me so long to venture forth. All 4 albums are remarkable.
Cardiacs
Il Volo
Metamorfosi

Slowdive, as in the 90's indie band?? I was listening to Souvlaki the other day. Sublime album..

Most of my current faves are not really prog tbh; early Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers and Massive Attack.

King Crimson have been a 'background' prog favourite for some years now. When I listen to prog rock it's more often than not King Crimson, although I guess my long term love is Genesis, from Trespass to Duke inclusive and when I revisit them I'm never disappointed.

Over the past few months these have all been doing it for me: -

Dream Theater
Transatlantic
The Neal Morse Band
Riverside
Porcupine Tree

Which is odd as until recently I was pretty much adamant that I didn't like "new prog". Oh well, you live and learn :)
