man Ian, perhaps it is just me, but that is depressing... but that is the state of things isn't it. Thank goodness at least for the RIOfest and of course the not to be announced until 15 minutes prior to Progday list

I could try to go to Belgium to attend the Prog Résiste Festival... But I wonder if I would rather stay in Paris to see the next concerts of Artus, Gong or Richard Pinhas. Anyway, the RIO Fest in on my schedule - except that, this time, no matter how much it costs, I will rent a room at the hostel of Cap Découverte!
By the way, Ian, may I suggest an addition to this line-up? The Prog' Sud festival, set near Marseille (France): http://progsudfestival.nuxit.net/gb_welcome.html" rel="nofollow - http://progsudfestival.nuxit.net/gb_welcome.html

Hi,
So sad to see this, and nothing on the West Coast in America. It's like all we know is prairie patties, cows and country music.
Very sad, though I can relate of there is not enough interest .. but if it doesn't get seen ... how the heck is anyone going to enjoy it? Heck, MAGMA did really well in Portland! Go figure! But you could tell that at least half to two thirds of the audience were all Europeans, though!

I am gonna try (again) to get to RIO for the first time. This year would be especially important to me because of the chance to see Slapp Happy for the first time EVER. But, I need some advice. I'm a bit long in the tooth for camping, so I'll pretty much need an actual hotel. Carmaux appears to have only 1 hotel with 9 rooms, so that'll probably be booked before I can finalize the arrangements. So, I was thinking of staying in Albi. I can get a decent airfare from Newark into Geneva and take the train to Toulouse where I can rent a car. Is there enough parking at the venue so I don't have to worry about that? Several hotels in Albi offer free parking. Alternatively, I could take the train from directly to Albi and rent there, although, being an American, I can't drive manual transmission and the selection in Albi doesn't seem to be as wide as in Toulouse. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I actually stay on site every year at the L'Auberge which is essentially a hostel and 100 yards from the venue. There's nothing fancy, simple beds, shower & toilet. Plenty of parking at the venue, it's an open cast mine converted into a zip line, water park, paintball, etc facility, so there's all the parking for that. Albi is very nice to stay at, beautiful inner town area. There's a bus every day too and from Albi to the Festival and lots of festival goers take that option. The drive from Toulouse to Albi/Carmaux is very straight forward and primarily on main roads. You can rent automatic cars in Europe.
