Tangerine Dream. Only truly love Amon Düül's two first. Eloy/Frank Bornemann's got one of prog's - no wait... popular music's most annoying vocals.

Amon Düül ll but Force Majeure is every bit as good. I just threw a little love the Lemming way seeing as it was without any votes. Something like a sonic scarecrow on steroids. Up there with Yeti and Wolf City. I could never pick one over the other as all three are absolute masterpieces...but in different ways.

My personal preference:
Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure > Amon Düül II - Tanz der lemminge > Eloy - Dawn

AD2 just ahead of TD, again hard to split those 2, Eloy much further down the list.

I'm leaping for the lemmings.

Though Force Majeure is not to be sneezed at! One of my favourite albums when I was fifteen, with a cassette tape of this and a crappy pair of headphones I had some pretty good trips (and I certainly hadn't taken any chemical ones at that tender age...).

All I can figure is that few people have actually heard Eloy "Dawn." Because it's freaking great. I can understand a vote for Amon Duul II, because it's great as well, but Tangerine Dream leading Eloy by a 2-1 margin (4-1 until I voted) is ridiculous. TD's best work can't compare with "Dawn."
IMHO, of course.

I can't figure out how people get past Bornemann's poor, annoying vocals and manage to enjoy their below average sympho-spacerock with its handful of memorable instrumental passages. I wish I had judged the book (=album) by its cover.

 - Going for my tenth favorite Tangerine Dream album instead was a no-brainer.

Easily Amon Duul II, I keep going between it and Yeti as my favourite album from them.

That's your opinion. I'm also an Eloy fan, and Force Majeure happens to be one of Tangerine Dream's finest records. Ocean or Colours vs. Atem or Cyclone may yield a different result.

Hi,

Side by side this is not fun ... but if we take into consideration their time and place, I would think that AD2's effort is more important and its "improvisational" style very impressive and a true representative of the scene in Germany at the time.

Eloy's Dawn is very nice, but I'm not sure it is as good a representative of "krautrock" as AD2 was.

TD's album was impressive, and continued their incredible amount of great stuff, but was much later.
