Actually I think it was me. One of my posts showed up with an "Under review" watermark. I changed what I thought might have been inappropriate/offensive. I'll have to check back to see if the 'Ban' has been lifted.

nice...  welcome to the club!!! Thumbs Up

oh I know that all to well LOL..  you can still see your posts when hidden... it is harder for them to delete posts so most of the time they simply hide them..

I think things got a bit out of control on the pictures thread, so I wanted to make sure the moderators were watching. A number of posts have been hidden.

The ones that were hidden were full of unnecessary sexual innuendo. I think PA mostly looks through it's fingers when these occur, but when they're directed at a 13 year old girl we tend to follow the guidelines to the t.

yeah... good move everyone. Reporting it and hiding it. I wasn't sure how to respond to that.. other than spit what I was drinking upon my monitor. As I said Alan... used to be.. old Micky would have torn him apart. I've gotten old I suppose... mellowed.

Not surprised at all about the hidden posts. In fact, I saw it coming, as Micky can confirm. I am glad I have no children, because the Internet would make my role as a parent even harder than it normally is.

The simplest way is to use the "Report Post" option from the "Post Options" menu. That report gets emailed to all the Admins simultaneously.

It's not harder to delete posts, it's a piece of piss. Hell, I once inadvertently deleted the entire Official Porkypine Tree Appreciation thread with a single click. The problem with delete is there isn't an undelete button whereas with hide there is an unhide button.

When an issue arises whichever Admin that is online at the time will act quickly to quell the situation. Usually this is a case of shoot first and ask questions afterwards because when there are several people involved the rapidity of posts can to get out of hand very quickly. Since the admin will want to allow his fellow admins the chance to view the evidence when they are next online then the offending posts will initially just be hidden. After reviewing the hidden posts and discussing it between them they will then decide whether the posts could be un-hidden or deleted and then decide what other action is needed.

^Sounds like a reasonable process to me. I've been a member for several years now and this is the first time I've been party to such a need. For my two cents worth, it works very well.

^ One thing that the Golden-Age Admins (aka Mickey's Nemeses) did well was Moderation in moderation. All Admins since then learnt a lot from those guys.

yep... they were classics... they knew when and when not to get involved... most of the time they just sent you half ass threatening PM's which you promptly ignored and  threw into the trash because you knew they were enjoying the mayhem you were inflicting just as much as one enjoyed inflicting it on the forum...

Well, the system appeared to work just fine, the issue was solved within 15 minutes of me raising the red flag.  Now I know what to do, but at the time it was close to midnight, I was tired and shouting out for help here seemed like the best option.

But hey, now I know some moderators so that's good, right?

Forgive our belated reply but we all try to cover all time-zone, in such a large website called PA.
