Hi everybody,

I wanna introduce a new (which is not very new for us :) ) band called 657, from Ankara, Turkey. They have two studio albums promoted in Turkey, "Çatlak" (1998) and "Bilseydik Yaşamazdık" (2003). In these albums, they combine the operatic vocals with solid guitar riffs and solos which I think the traditional prog fans would like it. They alson use Hammond organ and other synthesizers in most of their songs which makes you think you're listening an old prog stuff. Actually, this is a new band formed in the early '90s. The sound is not ok for a '90s band but, if you hear the money spent on this album, you'd think it's the best. :) Morever, it's a semi-professional band.

As you see the album titles, lyrics are totally Turkish. They mention about social problems. Lyrics are full of with criticism of the human nature...

The band's name, 657, comes from a state official law as all the members are state officers in Opera and Ballet Association of Turkish Government. This means they are professional opera artists playing rock music.

Unfortunately, the band is totally underrated and they're not so popular even in their hometown so it's impossible for you to find their CDs or LPs... If you want to hear their music, the only way is to download the whole "Çatlak" album that I linked below. (I hope it's not illegal in that forum. If yes, please forgive me.) Here are the rock-officers and their debut album, Çatlak :
