who would choose acoustic guitar... is this still a prog forum or did we add Willie Nelson finally and no one asked me, his biggest fan, to do the bio.

A flute is "winds high" or "winds low"?
What does "high" and "low" stands for?

Geeeezus! Frickin' duplicate threads and making me repost! I have the day off from work, thank you very much, I shouldn't have to have extra toil over a keyboard.
Anyway, I even had to work my fingertips to the bone and cut and paste my previous comment from the thread:
My personal preference has been the acoustic guitar for a number of years, particularly since I contracted tinnitus in my right ear from overly loud amplifiers.
Now, no more poll reposts, please.

nah... it wasn't like Ian was a viruoso on it . He struck the pose and the legend was born. It just made it easier for half-assed internet arguments to trump up their impact on prog so people could beam them into disucssions of greatest prog artists that they had zero reason for being in. Oh that band has a flute... see.. Tull influenced them!

Yeah, but... you know whats really crazy? Almost every flutist DO HAVE Anderson as a inspiration.
Even that the sound of the group is not similar to those of Tull...

Ian is an even better acoustic guitarist than a flautist. Plus, of course, the multiple other instruments he has played: saxophone, harmonica, mandolin, mandocello, electric guitar, bass, keyboards, bouzouki, balalaika, penny whistles and the almighty claghorn! All done quite progressively, of course.

So many instruments... I find it too hard to choose between piano, acoustic guitar and synths. So I choose to cut this tie and go for something else. The didgeridoo? Almost, but I think I prefer the theremin.

An electric guitar played by Andy Latimer, Steve Hackett, Steve Rothery or Dave Gilmour. There are plenty of other great players, but each of those four has a tone which gives me goose bumps.

"The bassoon is
one of my favorite instruments. It has a medieval aroma, like the days
when everything used to sound like that. Some people crave baseball...I
find this unfathomable, but I can easily understand why a person could
get excited about playing the bassoon." -Frank Zappa

Guitar/Drums/Bass. Love them equally. But the sound of a Fretless bass enchants me bigtime. So Fretless Bass it is.

Definitely the Hurdy Gurdy!I love that deranged sound especially from the band Zaar!

It depends on the music really. I like the Tuba in SOT, I would have added the Theremin to the list, then I like ethnic strings instruments like Oud, Sitar and so on...I won't vote. Thiking to i.e. Pink Floyd, does it go to Gilmour's guitar or to Wright's keys?

percussion is not an instrument, they are a variety of instruments mostly.
(I guess it could also be one instrument but they have names too, i.e. bongos, congas, maracas etc. even drums)

That is absolutely true, though naming all percussion instruments apart wouldn't do good to the poll I think.

For me it's obviously bass guitar, but a double bass and a sax can grab and keep my attention just as easily.
