Topic: "Floyd" PollPosted By: Guldbamsen
Subject: "Floyd" Poll
Date Posted: October 22 2015 at 06:18
Just a quick poll for all you Floyd fetishists out there. I've included old and new bands - stemming from Turkey, Yugoslavia, Norway, Brazil, Germany, US of A and the good ol UK. Some of them go for the classic mid 70s period, like Airbag's obvious attempt at re-doing Welcome to the Machine on 'Call Me Back', whilst others revel in the earlier years - ie The Future Kings Of England and Nektar who both sound more old school in their adoration of the Floyd.

Too many great choices. From the ones I didn't know PRR and VdO are my favourites, and from the ones I already knew Eloy and Nektar. I don't know on which one I should vote

Sure there is Hugues, but this poll is about tracks I actually dig

I was just recommended the new Jarre album this morning by a PA member The collabs with Air, Massive Attack, Moby, Pete Townsend and Tangerine Dream are what interest me but at the same time also part of what could go in a horribly cheesy direction. I am still giving it a listen. We don't always agree

I think all these artists did much better tracks and I can't see these tracks as collaborations because Jarre's input seems minimal The track with TD is the best I heard and it's just nice... but Zombi's new album is awesome

I think "Airbag : Call me back " have Floydian atmosphere very clear . Sounding and Arrangement is very similar to many of Pink Floyd tracks. And their Clear Floyd influence is Guitar Playing.
You can see many of "Wish You Were Here" elements in this song. I guessed Airbag win this poll but I mistake about that !!

In the Brazilian case, there are actually some bands still awaiting to be added here. The most prominent of them, the I-always-make-propaganda-for-tham, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpqbbmJ42yU" rel="nofollow - Secos & Molhados .

For me, it's between Future Kings of England, Phideaux, and Eloy. That's my favorite album by FKoE, so I went with that, although there are songs on it that I like more and consider even more 'Floydian', particularly Bartholomew's Merman and Dunwich: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urIdopLmdPU&list=PLVYv9Ze55C6moBzEnwH6WR2964Zm3DezW&index=3" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urIdopLmdPU&list=PLVYv9Ze55C6moBzEnwH6WR2964Zm3DezW&index=3

Well if it makes you feel any better then it's the only tune of Phideaux's that reek of Floyd to these ears. I don't hear it elsewhere. .....and no definitely no Floyd in the vocals either.

Hi. There are Many Genesis clone bands that have high rates like "Citizen Cain" , "Unifaun" , "5 Bridges" , "The Watch " and ... RPWL cover Pink Floyd in some of their concerts and they released one of this kind in 2015 and I think they covered some of great forgotten songs of P.F like "The Embryo" , "Green is Colour" , "Atom heart Mother" and etc BUT Genesis clone bands released albums as "The Original" albums.

I got a Floyd cover album last night : Echoes - Barefoot To The Moon
They cover some of popular songs in a acoustic live performance. Songs like : "Shine on ..." , "High Hopes" , "Comfortably Numb" ,... . I don't know about this band and the only thing that I'm sure is they are from Germany. I listened 3 times to it. Great and Perfect but different. For example they play solo guitar of "High Hopes " with Violin and Sax (I guess). Try it.

Hah! I forgot my own poll.
Anyway, thank you John. I'm pleased to see you mentioning some of the lesser known artists here....and I also see that you finally went for Violeta de Outono. Great track that one! Now I know they used to do Floyd covers back when they first started out, yet it's only rarely they sound like it on their studio albums. The debut fx sounds far more raw - almost like post-punk and space rock having a baby together.

We even had it registered as an entry here on PA. The track listings were all official and we thought it merely was a matter of time before we got to hear the final product....but no cigar. Didn't stop PAs infamous Nostradamuses from rating it though....which then led to it's deletion.
All I know is that it has been on the verge of "releasing" quite a few times by now. I genuinely believed that we got to hear it in 2015....now I'm not so sure. Oh well there's still a few months to go
