I guess 1968 is a little early for prog, but check out Bill Bartlett's 7-minute guitar jam in this song.
It's a more "psych" version of the Byrds' "Eight Miles High" jam, which was even earlier.

Jake Holmes recorded "Dazed and Confused" in '67.  Later that year Page would begin playing and expanding on it with the Yardbirds ("I'm Confused").   I have no idea what my point is but I'm just sayin.

Amazing...I have that track on the original vinyl Green Tambourine on Buddha records from 1968....had forgotten I owned a copy.
