I'll stick to another game, which is not a first person shooter: Diablo 2, or rather the expansion Lord of Destruction. As first-person shooter I'd probably name Turok or Unreal. Oh, and definitely NOT Wolfenstein. I hate it when the game industry exploits the NS-regime. It is distasteful. -------------  BaldJean and I; I am the one in blue. |

I think he was trying to stick to the classics, which was i didn't
complain about the lack of Halo 2 which would have got my vote had it
been present. Can't wait for the 64 player online action on Perfect Dark Zero, gonna be primo  Best game ever though, it has to be said lies outwith the fps genre, Baldur's Gate 2 was hands down the best, most immersive, most addictive game ever made. They even had to include warning messages in the game itself reminding you to eat and sleep. ------------- We Lost the Skyline............

I don't know about you, but for me Unreal and Turok WERE classics. On
the other hand, Blood or Doom were NOT. Of Blood I had not even heard
the name until now.

I tried to put ONLY the classics (when I mean CLASSICS, I mean
CLASSICS. Halo isn't a classic, it's a new game. Maybe WITH TIME it

Yes, Unreal was quite nice. BTW: I played Wolfenstein ... I didn't have that big a problem with it. But the multiplayer demo was scary, it was a simulation of the D-Day landing at Omaha beach. That's exactly what I dislike about Wolfenstein and why I refuse to play it: Exploiting the NS-regime for a video game is in bad taste. Also I generally don't like to play games in which you have to kill human beings; that's why I prefer to play "Diablo 2", since you only kill mosters there. Meh, Goldeneye is the best videogame ever, and one of the only I like. Perfect Dark was great too. Seriously, you can't beat those games. Okay, Halo sh*t got better graphism, online play, but it will never be a Goldeneye! ------------- Vive le Québec libre!... |

in the list i vote for Half-Life, it has a thickness that all the others lack, it's amazing!!! anyway, you forgot a really good one: Unreal, damn good!!! incredible how its atmosphere haunts me for days after I've finished it!! Among the others I would cite Duke Nukem 3d, it's the BEST comedic fps ever!!! i lol everytime listening to the crazy motto's by Duke...my favorite one is: "So many assholes, so few the bullets!". great. Also Doom gets a mention, being (IMHO) the father of all the modern fps's and being still a damn great game even after 10+ years...I still enjoy playing it today!!! (for BaldFriede: How in the world can you say it's not a classic!!! are you serious?! that's the first classic fps I would think about if asked.....anyway, I respect your point of view!! ) Right now I've discovered another masterpiece (so they say): System Shock 2...that's f**kIN' SCARY!!! great clever game with lots and lots of tension and terror, I swear it's the first fps ever that gets me tremblin' while playing, no joke. The monsters talk to you instead of grumbling or grunting and say things like "Your flesh can do me good" with zombie like voices...it's sooo creepy, you've got to try it!!------------- "my kingdom for a horse!"
