All Proto and Prog Related, I know, but I had not been bitten by the true Prog bug yet.

if you'd asked me some years ago, I would easily have chosen Led Zep but these days I can't choose out of these three.

Purple for me as they managed to make something interesting out of hard rock with that genius Jon Lord always in there somewhere. Never been a fan of Led Zep apart from their half dozen or so classic tracks and Sabbath passed me by ( although I do want to explore their catalog at some point)

Led Zeppelin > Deep Purple > Black Sabbath

(it's a close call between Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple)

Many years ago I recall someone from a review calling Uriah Heep a mutant version of Deep Purple.

For me it's close between Zep and the Purps, so I'll give the latter some love. For me they had a slightly more unique sound.
I've never really been into Sabbath, they never grabbed me much.

It took me a few weeks to realize this poll had been moved over here (some notice would have been appreciated).  As it turns out, the order of my listing was the order of my favor: Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath.  Thanks to all who participated! Handshake

Black Sabbath released more albums I'm very keen on, so go for them, although the best LZ releases are by no means worse than any BS album.

I loved what Deep Purple were doing with Rod Evans, and the early albums with Ian Gillan were masterpieceful as well, but I don't care much for them now.

The first two Sabbath albums....what a gas!  The Purps from In Rock to Fireball....and add Stormbringer.  But neither group is on the same level as Zep, IMO.

Led Zeppelin
Deep Purple mark ll

But really, I love all of them, although I rarely play their albums these days. I'm far too caught up in exploring new stuff.

1-Deep Purple

2-Led Zeppelin
3-Black Sabbath

Deep Purple made was better in both songwriting ( Child in Time Clap) and interpretation (Gillan, Blackmore, Lord). Although I slightly prefer Rainbow that also played a similar style.

As a lifelong Zep fan I gotta say Sabbath put out more consistent albums, so I voted Sabs.

All Zeppelin albums, most Sabbath ones, almost all Purple ones and all the early Heep ones and a few others since belong. Probably there's a few (Heep's)I've yet to discover when I have the time. Brilliant bands, cannot really go wrong. Sad to say there were a few Heep albums Wonder wall onwards... But they're not in the poll just mentioned (rightly so).

Hmm.....that's interesting...I never though Ozzie could sing well at all. IMHO Plant and , Gillan for that matter, had the pipes and the moves on stage while Ozzie always looked uncomfortable up there.

In my own past, we had a quadrary, adding Alice Cooper.

Today, it's Purple and Zep. Not so much Alice and BS.
