The Mars Volta for one of the most influential albums of the past 20 years. My personal choice for 2013 would be Guapo's History of the Visitation, but out of this list I'd go for Birds and Buildings. |

Good call with Birdsong of the Mesozoic! That album is great. It's a pity that, when they played at ProgDay 2012, we were so drained by the unrelenting heat and humidity (which were much worse than the past couple of years) that we left early and did not appreciate them as fully as we should have. |

I saw them recently in Boston as the support act for The Cellar & Point who were promoting their debut album.
