It would take a really strong album to beat Big Big Train's mighty English Electric 1 but feel that Echolyn's Mei is that really strong album.

Echolyn's 2nd best album beats Big Big Train's 2nd best album by a nose!

My good friends of The Tea Club released one of the best albums of the past few years with Quickly Quicky Quickly, so my vote went to them. Viljans Oga is another favourite from 2012, though only one of many.

Going with In Absentia, although I do love Death Defying Unicorn...

Top three would be PT, Anglagard and Motorpsycho.

"Sad Rain" ANEKDOTEN

It was between PT and Motorpsycho but went with the latter because I've listened to it more these last 1,5 years. Great album but then again anything featuring Ståle Storløkken is bound to be thrilling.

Arena - Contagion, one of my all time favourites. Just listened again to it the other day after quite some time and was again so utterly blown away by it.

I've heard Motorpsycho's name, but have not checked them out yet. Have not heard of the Tea Club. I don't really like any of the others. No vote.

I still have no idea why they're so popular among progressive rock fans.

They have a split audience coming from metal and prog about equally as I understand it. Trying to pander to both has been a problem I believe. Most prog fans recognise that Images and Words was an important album. I find it okay just but prefer Awake. Six Degrees is actually very good as is Octavarium and the earlier Change Of Seasons. After that they lost me totally. I hated both Train Of Thought and Systematic Chaos.
