That's very cool! Shocked
Yeah, I think the connection was made by the engineer who used to run a music electronics company with Arthur Sloatman who was Zappa's guitar tech.
Dem Zappa connections.
Indeed. Just give me a few years and I'll have met the Frankergeist himself.
Great googly moogly!

my top five never budges and I can't put them in any order

Carl Palmer
Phil Collins
Neal Peart
Jon Hiseman
Bill Bruford

There are some drummers I like more than the music itself. Bill Ward was a tremendous drummer but never a great Sabbath fan. Likewise Ian Paice and John Bonham.

I think my other five would be
Keith Moon
Alan White (for Drama if nothing else)
Gavin Harrison
Nicko McBrain
Nick D'Virgilio

in a few more years I might include John Weathers instead of Gavin.

I don't really have a "top" seeing as there are so many incredible drummers that I like.
These are some that I'm digging currently:

Thorstein Lofthus (Shining, elephant9)
Christian Burchard (Embryo)
Giulio Capiozzo (AREA)
Jaki (Can)
Peter Leopold (Amon Düül ll)
Ivan Fedotov (Vespero)
Pierre Moerlen (Gong)
Ainsley Dunbar (Zappa, Lou Reed etc)
Ian Paice (early Deep Purple)
Gianchi Stringa (Il Balletto di Bronzo)

^ Those first 4 are among my favorites too, and I dig the music of Simon Phillips. Colaiuta and Mouzon have been on some great recordings too. Bruford is another favorite.

great shout and a fantastic drummer, wished he had stayed with Wilson. I guess the next Wilson album will have Chad Wackerman who for me is not quite as good (although still very good)
