Topic: Agaetis Byrjun or Skinny Fists? Posted: March 02 2014 at 14:17 |
Both are classic post-rock albums, probably hailed as the 2 greatest of all-time, but which is your favourite? Again, both are similarly rated on PA, released just a year apart from each other, and are almost rivals in my mind. Sorry I couldn't fit the full name on for the second option ("Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennae To Heaven"), I could barely fit the band name in!
Anywho, my vote goes to Agaetis Byrjun. The only post-rock album I own - has some epic songs but is also very consistent and creates a nice soundscape. However, if I was ever to buy another post-rock album any time soon, it would be "Skinny Fists". Whilst there are some great moments, it does go on a bit and on the whole not very attractive (the album cover doesn't really leave much to imagination when listening for 90 minutes). I don't really have enough time for it either Still, like Agaetis Byrjun, a great soundscape and I would definitely buy it if I saw it going quite cheap
Thanks for any feedback!

Skinnnee. I almost cried the first time I heard it.
Sigur Ros is really good but not quite there.

Sigur Ros do it for me pretty much. The soundscapes are amazing. It's never amazing but consistently enjoyable.

Skinny Fists all the way. Agaetis Byrjun is still like a giant blur to me.

GYBE, Takk and () are better Sigur Ros albums in my opinion. Jonsis voice starts to bug me after awhile too.

Sigur Ros is like layers upon layers of cascading icicles. Skinny Fists is like a slow burning venomous cacophony of breaking rocks and tectonic plates so I choose the latter!! Both evoke great atmospherics but the Canadians win this one and theirs is a double offering too Simple but excellent poll.
