How can you not love an album with Mike Johnson, Dave Willey, Guy Segers, Elaine Di Falco & Dave Kerman making guest appearances? It's a RIO supergroup!!

I forgot about all the guests helping out these Italians. Great album and i think i heard they have a new one out too didn't i ?
Glad to see Panzerpappa mentioned a few times already. These Norwegiens offer up an avant/Jazz flavoured style of music that i really dig. They have just released a new album that is on my "to get" list. |
I just received the new Yugen and Panzerpappa today. The Yugen is a live album from the RIO performance in 2011.

I just checked out Wayside Music just to read the blub on that live Yugen album and they say they also covered Henry Cow's Industry which is pretty darn cool. Also that the versions of the songs they did here are often quite different from the originals. Oh and it's called Mirrors for those interested.

All the prog has a debt with Riley IMO

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Went with Paternoster here. At first I was really put off by the vocals, but it grew on me and I think it deserves a greater recognition.
Love that guitar tone!

True that. I remember reviewing International Harvester from Sweden and that band basically formed because of a visit to their college by one terry Riley who of course was sharing this new style of music to the world.

We are definetly on the same page Sagi. Yeah those vocals are kind of whiney but they grew on me as well, but it's the music and guitar tone as you say that elevates this one for me.
