Bit of a risk voting for their most recent album (and having egg on you face when you realize it's not as good as you though it was), but I've played it enough times now to confidently say it's the best thing they have ever done. Broader musically than anything before it, more commercial than HiE but doesn't fall for the same traps as HiE. OK, it's not quite progressive enough for the tastes of people who contribute to this site, but hey, Marillion stopped being a progressive rock band long ago when Fish fell out with the band. Is that such a crime? Lot of stuff Steve Wilson does these days isn't that progressive either.

Brave, followed by the 2-CD version of Marbles, though I have a soft-spot for Seasons End and Holidays In Eden.

Seasons End for me one of the best Neo Prog albums and a massive influence on the direction of the sub genre (in a positive way imo)

Ok so I chose SEASONS END, but I know that BRAVE and MARBLES have a far greater musical depth to them, but let's face it...seasons end is simpler but better sounding album. Love it.

Any of the following are great choices: This Strange Engine, Afraid of Sunlight, Marbles, or Season's End. I haven't heard their latest yet, but will soon. The others are all decent, except maybe Radiation (not too big on .com either).

Brave is a mixed bag for me, there are fillers so i won't really recommend it. Albums you can't go wrong with : - Seasons' End (most of the tracks were written during Fish days - music remains but lyrics were changed -> listen to some of the demo songs of the bonus CD to Fugazi's remastered version - so it has a strong Fish-era feel to it) - Holidays In Eden : H begins to bring his touch to the future Marillion sound, some ambient pop/prog not far from the likes of David Sylvian or Talk Talk - This Strange Engine : it has the best H-era epic, and has some elegantly crafted songs full of emotions. - Happiness Is The Road pt 1 : excellent album, not a single "disposable" track. I don't know the second part, but pt 1 is full of nice musical ideas and great vocals. - Sounds that Can't Be Made : some useless and out of place hard-rock moments in the first track (otherwise good) but the remaining of the album is pure beauty.

1. Made Again. Only because it has "Brave Live" on it. 2. Marbles Live. (Racket Records) 3. Afraid of Sunlight Live. (Racket Records)
Marillion is sooooo much better live than recorded.
