How do I consult the denied suggested bands?

I try to use the forum search to locate the topics, but, sorry to be rude, the search engine is rubbish.

Fo instance: i wanna suggest a new band for PA but I want to know first if somebody else has already suggested. Thats all. Simple. Thats all I want.

Thx for any help.

Doesn't searching for the band's name and changing the search engine to "All Time" work well enough?

What band is it?  The search function generally works fine as long as you type the band name correctly in the keyword search and you select any date for the time period.  The only times it really doesn't work well is if (a) the suggestor didn't use the band's name in their topic title or (b) the band's name is something like "How" because hundreds of threads will come up with the name "How" in them.

Second option is to go to http://progfreak.com/ and do a search on the band name.  It doesn't work for all genres, but it if the band has been suggested there is a good chance that they will be listed here, and they will have a PA tab that you can click on to check the status of the suggestion.

If learning to use the search function properly is too difficult then the only solution is to page through the Suggest New Bands and Artists lounge until you reach the end. If the band you are looking for isn't there then there is a 32% chance they've not been suggested before.

The google search on the home page is a very useful alternative too. Just be sure to change the search default from "Discography" to "Forum".

One can look at thread titles alphabetically also.

I'm going to jump to desistindo's defense and say that he is right in saying that the search is...well...rubbish. Yes, there is that trick that you have to remember to set it to search all time, but even then, I've had a specific thread I was looking for and even knew all or part of the subject line of that thread and the search hasn't found it. But, it is what it is so no use complaining.

Does anyone know if there's a manual somewhere on the site about how to use the search function?  Because I have the same problem Geoff does, and I don't know if it's just a deficiency in the program or if I'm doing something wrong...or what.  Something like that could be useful for new members especially, I think, who often have a hard time with the search.

Who knows. Ask some one at Web Wiz ForumsŪ because it's nothing to do with us and there's nothing we can do about it. Really, there isn't.

Oh, that makes sense.  Should have realized that.
