These two singers keep me from liking these two bands, which is a shame because I generally like the actual music. Of the two vocalists, who do you prefer?

Surkamp is a fantastic singer if you are into high-pitched tones. I can better stomach his vocals than Geddy's ones in early Rush albums, probably because there is more fragility and tremolo and because he doesn't "scream".
"Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood)
David Surkamp. Neither of those vocalists keep me from liking the music of their respective bands. Both singers can produce a strong vibrato, but Surkamp's high-pitched voice is clearer and Chapman sounds a bit more ... ... goat-like.

Roger Chapman is an AMAZING vocalist!!!
Noone else can sing Shadow on the Wall (Mike Oldfield) like him and his work with Family is brilliant.
You might have added Dave Cousins - some love him (like me) but some hate him.
I think the Oldfield song is the only one I've heard with Chapman that I actually liked. Thanks for reminding me of Dave Cousins, completely forgot about him but could have added him too.
