This band has actually been around since 1999. They now have four albums under their belt with the release of 'Four Ever' in March 2011, the others being 'Malice in Ongolandia' (March 2009), 'Negra' (March2004), & 'Aqui No Pasa Nada' (March 1999). They share two band members with Trili (aka trili?), who are already here in Heavy Prog: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4408, ie Gaby Vidal (guitar), & Lily (vocals). Their music is not only on soundcloud (see link in o.p.), it is on reverbnation: http://www.reverbnation.com/ongo (8 samples), & myspace: http://www.myspace.com/ongoband (5 samples with 3 different ones from reverbnation). The four albums are all on cdbaby, and at very reasonable prices too, but for some reason the latest one is all on its own, with a separate entry for the artist 'Ongo' from that where the other 3 albums are listed (even though it definitely is the same band).
Best of all though, they are on bandcamp, all four albums for streaming in full, and even a collection of 'unreleased' stuff from 2010: http://ongo.bandcamp.com/album/four-ever (links to other albums within), and the individual albums can all be streamed in full via myspace too from this link: http://www.myspace.com/ongoband/music/albums/four-ever-17610609 (links to other albums within, and many of the tracks are still showing '0 plays', would you believe!). They are on rateyourmusic: http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/ongo, though only the first three albums are there, and the first one is listed as released in 2002 rather than 1999, but despite 13 years in existence, and all this material, there is just one single rating on the site (a rating, not a review) despite the massive size of the user base there. So why so little known? The music is actually very good indeed. The soundcloud samples are from various albums, and there is Heavy Prog which veers toward Prog Metal and then back towards Crossover, there is fusion, in fact there is probably a bit of most genres if you listen to the albums in their entirety, with both male and female vocals at times, as well as long instrumentals. Musicianship is truly excellent, & I would have though this was an absolute no brainer for Eclectic Prog. Where on earth have these guys been hiding all these years??? Check 'em out indeed!!! - And move the thread into 'Suggest New Bands and Artists' asap!

Thank you very much!
Currently the band is working hard on two very challenging projects. First is the recording on audio and video for ONGO - Live at Ongolandia. It will be a 4 song 100%-overdub/punch-in-free EP. Right know the video is being edited. Then, we will be re-arranged & recorded 3 songs from the first 3 ONGO albums plus a new song. Right know we are recording the vocals. It will be a download only album and it will be FREE. After that we will continue working on ONGO V.

Well I'll be a suck-egg mule...they were here all the time!: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3909 , added a whole 5 years ago, would you believe...but the discography needs updating ('Four Ever' - 2011, 'Live From Ongolandia' - 2012, and just released 'Llena Tu Cabeza De Ongo Vol.1' - 2012 are all missing). Sadly there is not a single review or rating for any of the three albums already on the site. The whole catalog is up on bandcamp: http://ongolandia.com/ and free to download too, so anyone into Prog Metal & looking for something new...here's your chance to fill your boots!
