Topic: Worst Genesis Album Cover Posted: June 17 2005 at 00:02 |
So many to choose from...
As the music of post-Hackett Genesis took a dive, so did the band's album covers. Ouch! Rough on the eyes. Pick the ugliest.
Personally I thought Calling All Stations had a pretty cool cover

The cover of "Genesis" looks like several blocks of cheese falling from the sky. I wonder what this suggests...
*cough cough* Cheesy music! *cough cough*

"Duke" seems like a pretty bad cover too. Peter's departure DID bring a
departure of cool album covers too...there must be a correlation between
cool album covers and Peter Gabriel...just look at the covers of Peter
Gabriel 1-4!

Voted Invisible Touch. The cover is equally sh!t as Duke, but I like the Duke album, so gace IT the vote. Both covers look like the work of a depressed 4 year old.

Like Blacksword (again!)... I voted for Invisible Touch, which now looks dated as well as crass, unlike Abacab, which while not being a great cover, has a simplistic style which has stood the test of time better. Invisible Touch = 80's cheese, both inside and out!

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Three Sides Live. They could just as easily have put the album in a brown paper bag.
I don't like any of the covers mentioned above, except Abacab. I thought that one was pretty cool.

Definitely 'Three Sides Live' for me; the cover shows a total lack of effort, yet ironically it's the best album here- though that wouldn't be hard...

I don't like any of the above covers, but I voted for We Can't Dance.
My fave one of all was Nursery Chryme.

I though #1 was pretty lame.
#2 was cool
#3 was AWESOME, but btw pretty easy to do yourself if you own a Polaroid camera. Take a picture, then while it's developing use your fingers to push around the emulsion. An easy way to enjoy an acid trip without the brain damage.

Invisible Touch looks like a template for a Public Health Service pamphlet or something.

That one is just f**king stupid. I mean, did they have really have a group meeting and say "Wow, great cover!" The album name was about as inspired.
While I hate "The Way We Walk" even more, "Three Sides Live" gets the "F for effort" vote of any album - or any book or record or video - cover of all time, in the history of this world or any other anywhere in this vast universe.

It definitely is the best album on the list, but only after they got rid of that stupid fourth side of b-sides, and made it "Four Sides Live." Man that version of "Fountains" as well as some other tracks - like Dodo Lurker - makes Three Sides Live a pretty darn good album.

Well, my vote is "The Way We Walk." It just summarizes how Phil Collins and unbelievable garbage like Illegal Alien changed Genesis from these really cool prog musicians to the British equivalent of ZZ Top/really lame stand up comics.
