I left some albums out , mainly, to fit them all on the fill-in-form

Sucker for the original. It is one of the best albums i've ever heard. Ommadawn isn't bad, but not better. I am also looking for a copy of Amorak, when i have the money to buy it that is.

Despite that cocking horse song at the end I've got to go for Ommadawn.

I'm not a big fan of Mike Oldfield.
Very long ago my friends give me, as gift for my birthday, QE2: not really a masterpiece of prog, I know, but it works.

Definately "Crises".
That's one of our regular cover songs (in my band).

I voted 'Incantations'. It's a great album and probably Oldfield's best.

1. Hergest Ridge
2. Ommadawn
3. Collabarations (with the songs that didn't make it on the first 3 albums; side 4 of Boxed in the age of LP)
4. Tubular Bells
4. Incantations
5. Amarok
I think his first 4 albums are his best. Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn are almost even in my opinion. Hergest Ridge because of the lovely minimal bass tune in part 1, augmented by other instruments and ending with the magnificent choir. And the beautiful beginning of part 2.
Ommadawn is good because of the use of acoustic instruments, and great themes. on Collaborations there are some very interesting tracks as well.

Living right at the foot of 'Hergest Ridge', how could I say otherwise?

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Most of them are much of a muchness . I'm surprised about the votes for Ommadawn since I found the second side of that quite weak. Tubular Bells is very good but I like the diversity and balance of Crises so I have voted for that. Also in the dark days of the 80s it was nice to see that someone still had it.

Its a tough choice as there is such a variety , but I'll go for Amarok even though I love them all!

For me, it's was close between Tubular Bells and The Songs of Distant
Earth. In the end I voted for Songs as nobody else had voted that way.
