octavarium by dream theater

    This new album of the prog masters d.t. is not axactly what we were waiting 4.When you listen it at first time is takes you by surprise.Strange stuff,isn't it?But after some careful listenings i am sure that you will love this album as i did(which prog album did you like right after you heard it once????).8 songs of about 75minutes.The first song 'root of all evil' is the 2nd sequel of 'glass prison'.A very heavy song.Not smth brilliant but ok.The 2nd song 'the answer lies within' is a ballad.It reminds me of the 'falling into infinity' period.Nice song.'These walls'.WHAT A f**kIN' GREAT SONG!!!Nothing more,nothing less...The next song 'I walk beside you' is heavy/pop song and it's one of my favourites.'Panic attack' begins with great bass by J.Myung and turns into a raging storm of guitars.Excellent!D.T. composed a very strange song.It is called 'Never Enough'.It goes back to the 6DOIT period.'Sacrificed sons' is a semi-ballad with great orchestration and the last 24minute epic song 'Octavarium' is a song which may fit to a psychopath.MADNESS!Yeahhhhh.In other words the new album is not straight forward like the 'T.O.T.' but is is worht the time and the money...Trust me...and finally...keep it away from angry heavymetal guys...They will vomit!!!
