Another young progger here, although perhaps an old soul, as you can tell from my Orson Welles-inspired username. I'm 18 years old and live in the California suburbs, detached and subdivided.
I love progressive music-- it is truly a part of who I am and an integral part of my everyday life. I'm ecstatic to find people here who share my passion. I am into everything from Pink Floyd-Eloy psych rock to Shakti raga, some zhuel (Magma, Dun), Yes, Genesis, Tull, VDGG, King Crimson, Gentle Giant-- just bought Octopus, killer-- ELP, lately been on a jazz fusion (Ponty, Hancock) and 20th century classical kick (Riley/Reich mostly, but also some Glass, Verdese, trying to get into Stravinsky), some Art Bears, Art Zoyd, Faust has been occupying my listening time as well lately, getting back into the Italian stuff (Osanna now) plus the rarer Il Balleto, Latte e Miele, but Banco/PFM remain my favorites in that domain, love myself some of that raw Canterbury sound, Soft Machine, Caravan, Wilde Flowers, Wyatt-- just bought Rock Bottom, wow Oldfield's work is Tubular Bells+ caliber, and Fred Frith on violin (!). Some prog metal, but DT is the only group that really stands out. My new goal is become well-acquainted with all of the PA top 100 albums by the end of the year-- I've done about 40 so far, there's a lot of stuff I haven't dug into there, such as Anglagard (?). Of course this is only the tip of the iceberg. Three favorite albums are Dark Side of the Moon, Close to the Edge, Misplaced Childhood (oh, and 2112 gets an honorable mention) If you have recommendations, throw them at me! Hey, welcome to the site from another younger member
![]() Awesome top 3, CttE and Misplaced Childhood easily make my top 10 ever. I think I'll recommend maudlin of the Well's 2009 album Part The Second! It's in the PA top 100, and available for download free of charge over here: http://maudlinofthewell.net/downloads.html Simply one of my favourite albums ever. Hope you enjoy the site! -Joel |

Get into Stravinsky, then listen to Scelsi, Schnittke, and/or Penderecki. Also, welcome!
