Music View Online Blog Progressive Rock Legends Return with New Keyboardist, Rhythm SectionRemember Flash, the ‘70’s British progressive rock band that stole the critics’ hearts, with onetime Yes guitarist Peter Banks, and guest appearances by Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye? Flash released three critically-acclaimed albums before disbanding, but never made it into the annals of long-term stardom like ELP, King Crimson and others of their ilk. Flash has now re-formed in Las Vegas, with original frontman and vocalist Colin Carter and co-founder/bassist – now lead guitarist – Ray Bennett being joined by multi-keyboardist Rick Daugherty, a recording/gigging veteran from Vegas via Denver via Germany. Rounding out the group are award-winning bassist Wayne Carver and British drummer Mark Pardy, who appeared on Bennett’s solo album Whatever Falls. The group’s CD of new material is being engineered by Thad Corea, son of jazz legend Chick Corea, and prog rock fans everywhere are eagerly awaiting the return of a band that many imitated but no one equaled. The new Flash will make its live debut headlining the ProgDay music festival near Chapel Hill, North Carolina during Labor Day weekend. Edited by sherrynoland - September 15 2010 at 04:29 |
