Moonlight Sky (Slovenian prog rock)

I don't really know, which subgenre would they fit into, because their music is very diverse. They started as a heavy prog band, heavily influenced by proto-prog bands like Deep Purple, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, but have shown a lot of symphonic, maybe even more experimental tendencies (on the instrumental tracks) in their first album. In their second album they have finally evolved their own sound, which is for me, as a newbie to prog a bit too hard to define. There's definitely a lot of eclectism and diversity. Since their loss of their keyboardist/vocalist, they have transformed into something fusion-like (check out the new song "Labirint"). Their leader is the guitarist Miha Petric, who was also instructed by Pavel Kavec - the guitarist and vocalist from Oko - a Slovenian heavy prog band, which allready is on PA.

They write most of the stuff in english as well, but just to be sure - in the upper right corner "odpri predvajalnik" means turn on the (pop-up) player.
Their second album "I Am" is highly recommended to any good music fan.

Maybe they have progressed so much, that we can't define it.

Seriously, this happens. Many bands are so undefinable that nobody knows what genre they should be. Most of the times, even the band themselves don't know.

^ It's more like feeling. I'm young, only 21 years, only 2 of them listening mostly to Prog. I depend on my feelings rather than skills and knowledge that I still have to develop (and am developing).

You don't know about that I suppose, but a lot of bands gets suggested for one genre, rejected, then suggested for another, again rejected and then suggested for final genre and accepted. It's slow, but sometimes we don't have other choice.

My guess is Crossover, maybe Space.

Quick checking of your stuffs ... not pure Space Rock but melancholic heavy & pop sounds with definite jazz elements and spacey spice, good ones indeed.

As Marty's said, Crossover, or Eclectic (my 2 cents).

But it is true that even more jazz-rockish music can be put under eclectic prog, as some of the bands are that have many jazz-rock tendencies, as well as prog ones.

Hey guys, I thought they're Prog. Crossover should be good for them. Because by my opinion, having a lot of elements from different genres (most of them being Prog) should be advantage, because there is a lot of originality in their music.

I visit PA forum regularly, but am here just for the read, usually =). Don't have much time, really. Great that you have suggested Moonlight Sky.

Well, I am now in Crossover team, so I guess it's time to place my vote. Crossover probably, so be it like that. Maybe Space Prog, but I guess that Crossover is suitable as well.
