"Storm" was a Spanish heavy prog rock band which played similar style to Uriah Heep, Birth Control, Atomic Rooster, Frumpy or Deep Purple but also another spanish band (alredy in PA) - Máquina!. Lots of loud guitars/organ battles. Songs mainly sung in english language.
Original line -up:
Luis Genil (keyboards, vocals), Ángel Ruiz (guitar, vocals), Diego Ruiz (drums, vocals), José Torres (bass, vocals), Pedro García (bass)
Discography:
The Storm (1974)
El día de la tormenta (1979)
Review of their first album from http://shadowkingdomrecords.com/: "The Storm hailed from Sevilla and were acclaimed by audiences and press reviewers as one of the best rock bands from Spain. The combo was formed by the Ruiz Geniz brothers (Angel and Diego, on guitar and drums respectively) plus Luis Genil (organ) and José Torres (bass).
Their debut album, originally released on Basf in 1974, is one of the Crown jewells of Spanish hard rock, and changes hands for a small fortune among collectors all over the world, especially since its inclusion in Hans Pokora's 'Record Dreams' books. This LP really rocks. It's high energy hard rock that follows the line marked by the big organ outfits of the era: Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster, Bram Stoker, Megatón, a.o. It has also a deep classic prog sound root, which reaches the top on 'Un Señor Llamado Fernández De Córdoba'." More info:

That's cool, I'm listening now. Nice vintage sound! Sounds a bit like a punk-ish Atomic Rooster or Progresiv TM, heh. I'm notifying the Heavy Prog team.
You know, when you find old and forgotten bands that you like, you can upload tracks on Youtube, or create them a MySpace fan page and upload the tracks there. That usually helps saving them for sliding into oblivion... |
