I googled this question, and searched on the PA forum. There doesn't seem to be an answer to the following question: Does anyone have a list of best-selling prog records?

If not, let's compile a list in this thread. Please include the sales or chart position if possible. You can find the chart position info on Allmusic.com, and you can find the sales info on RIAA's sales database (you need to replace the artist name with the artist that you're searching for).

I'll start with some obvious entires. I did NOT verify their sales/chart data yet.

Tool - Lateralus (Billboard #1)
Pink Floyd - The Wall, Dark Side, WYWH, etc.
Dream Theater - Score, Octavarium etc.

Pretty sure Dark Side of the Moon is the #1 best selling of all-time.

Further notes:

The RIAA database is easy to use, but might cause some misunderstandings. Here's some info I got from the RIAA database.

The Dark Side of the Moon sold 15.00x MULTI PLATINUM in USA.

The Wall sold 23.00x MULTI PLATINUM in USA.

You won't see this data on the first page, but if you carefully read every page, you will find it.

And, this method will not tell you about sales outside of USA.

I thought so too. But...

Why does The Wall have 23X PLATINUM, while Dark Side only has 15X PLATINUM?

I just heard an explanation for that, I can't remember it though.

Quote from wikipedia:

Pink Floyd's The Wall and The Beatles' White Album, both vinyl-era, are counted double even though their running times are under the minimum.

The Wall is a double album, so it is counted double.
