Mantra is a rock band who emerged in the late nineties with the purpose of rescue an unique sonority, quickly becoming one of the main groups of underground rock scene in Brazil. Their music is based on the hypnotizing effects that the seventies brought. This decade is known by the musicians of this group as the apex of experimental creativity, which means that the freedom to create, together with elements of Jazz, Blues and Classic Music, directly influenced in the strain counterculture that the Hippie's guitars emitted, creating, therefore, a different musicality, enjoyable and sophisticated. The five instrumentalists of Mantra, André Mola (guitar and voice), Igor Ribeiro (bass and voice), Hugo Bizzotto (keyboards and voice), Léo Dias (drums and voice) and Rodrigo Boi (voice and guitar), have chosen the harmony of their vocals, intercalating the solos  by each tune’s determination. All of them are singers and have their solos determined by each one’s vocal area. 
They are professional musicians registered by the Brazil’s Musicians Order (Ordem dos Músicos do Brasil), actives, academics, music teachers and culture researchers. The eternal quest for new elements for the construction of the group’s identity brings exciting performances, charisma and good relationship with the public. Rock and Roll, communication and freedom of creation are strong features of Mantra’s work. In December 2001 was launched the band’s first work, the CD “Contos do Plano Mental”, produced in tUpAtOo Studio by sound engineer João Marcelo (Jojô) and the band, in the period from August to October 2001. More then a half of the CD’s was sent to Europe and other countries, and Tatiana Dias, a culture producer from Brazil, once said that “They would be a huge success if they had the opportunity to play in Europe”. The CD contains four tracks that discuss relevant issues (or not) of human beings daily (or not): - Tucatatu (a criticism of alienation) – O tempo na história (philosophical question of historical time) – Sorria meu velho (fraternal love and conflict) – De volta ao B-612 (based on the book "The Little Prince"). Currently, the band is working with the revolutionary opera "A Guerra dos Emboabas", about a relevant conflict in Brazil’s history, which will bring classic music with popular elements, such as rock music. The event, such as the band as well is a real cultural relic for the music world.
