   I have seen recent threads regarding the concept of buying the music directly from the musicians.  I know that Radiohead is doing a pay what you want to download promotion which sounds like a cool idea.  I have seen some other bands that have done that for songs, but not the entire album.  From browsing the site, I know that there are bands like Pax Cecilia who are providing free copies of their CDs in hopes of generating interest for concert tickets as well as for future albums.  

I am not too fond of the paying 99 cents for a song that Itunes and other legal download sites have.  You end up paying $10 - $15 for an album anyhow and you don't get a case, a physical CD or a booklet.  I do like eMusic because overall the price per song is much cheaper, but I don't know if the sound quality is worse because of it or not.  So far I have been pleased.

At any rate, I went to Circa's website to see about purchasing their CD directly from them and they are charging $19.95 for their CD.  As much as I would like to have it, I refuse to pay more than the amount that is already being outrageously charged at the local CD stores for other albums that are available.  The same thing applied to Porcupine Tree's Nil Recurring.  The price plus shipping and handling would cost as much if not more than the cost of a full-length CD.  Again, to me, ridiculous.  I spend/waste enough money on CDs throughout the year without paying excessive prices to purchase the music.   Has anyone had better experiences with this, where they have been able to purchase CDs directly from the musicians for a price more reasonable then what you could get them for on Amazon or at local CD stores?
