Hi, I'm a college sophomore from Atlanta. I've surfed the site for a long time, but just now decided to enter the forum. Prog Archives has been invaluable in my search for good music; I've gotten reams of excellent advice from reading all the posts in the forum!

About me: My favorite genre is symphonic, especially ELP, Genesis, Yes, and Van der Graaf Generator. Other prog favorites are Rush, Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentacles, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, and Focus.  I've also dabbled in some avant-garde and electronic prog with bands like Henry Cow and Tangerine Dream. Right now, I'm looking to begin exploring Italian prog some, starting with PFM. Also, I am really interested in getting some Flower Kings after recently buying a Roine Stolt album, which was extremely good.

 Anyway, hello everybody!

Howdy from Texas.  Make yourself at home.

A fellow Georgian! Welcome! What college are you at? UGA, GT, Ga Southern? I'm going west to Auburn in a little over a week. Hey, if you like avant garde, you must try Zappa and John Zorn, as well as Mr. Bungle and really anything with Mike PAtton's name attached to it (inclusing Zorn)

Well, I actually go to a small college near Pittsburgh called Geneva College. Far away, but I felt like being adventurous! I do hope to get a master's degree at Georgia Tech after graduating, if possible.

I've heard a lot about Frank Zappa, but never actually listened to any of his music. I'm probably missing out on some great stuff! I have so much on my wish list, though, it might be a while before I buy an album.

^ I thought about being adventurous, but my darling mother informed me I couldn't go too far. It's hard to be defiant when she pays some of the bill. But yes, if you like henry Cow, you must try Zappa, Mr. Bungle, John Zorn, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. And that's just the start. Soon you'll be broke like the rest of us Big%20smile
