I'm still hoping to find some progressive rock players in my area. I had hoped that by now such a discussion board would have been created.

With all the progressive rock heads that flock to this forum, I'm sure that some make music of their own. It would be nice to hook up and form groups from people that meet here.

The idea is so bad that it isn't even worth discussing?

Perhaps I should pitch it a bit more?

I don't know how many folks here are musicians in their own right, but I can tell you this. If you are a musician and you are looking to hook up a Progressive Rock project you will find that it is incredibly difficult. It's not like looking for a coverband or a top 40 act. It's harder than getting a blues group or jazz ensemble together. I dare say that finding other like minded Progressive Rockers is the most difficult of all genres to bring together.

I live on Long Island in New York. I've spent the better part of 20 years trying to get a Progressive Rock project assembled. It's never happened. I've been in a lot of projects. Currently I'm in a Gobi Jamband. Most notably, I was a musical prostitute and founding member of The Soft Parade (some of you may even have heard of it).

I've never had any trouble getting into or forming any bands of any type except for Progressive Rock. No one places ads on Craig's list, Good Times or LI Ear looking for Progressive Rock groups except for me. When I have placed such ads, there is very little or NO response!

I think that in 20 years or more of trying to get together an original Progressive Rock act, I've managed to audition about 5 people.

As you can guess, I'm pretty desperate to find like minded musicians. Progressive Rock forums are few and far between even on the internet. So, as you can imagine, this is sort of my only hope to find any real number of top notch players interested in making the least commercially viable music in the world.

So how about at least discussing the possibility of creating a folder for musicians looking for musicians?

How cool would it be if folks that hooked up, here on this forum, were one day the same group that you discuss and trade music from? Is there already too many Progressive Rock groups out so there isn't any need to cultivate some fresh new ones?

I know that my post count makes me a "noob" on this board, but I'm no "noob" when it comes to composing and performing great Progressive Rock.

Thanks for reading.

Carl

Don't be dismayed- this section of the forum gets a lot less traffic. Maybe post under the "Musical Instruments" thread?

I'm much closer to Garion than you, Carl, or I'd volunteer as well.

BTW: great avatar. I just picked up the "Brak Show" DVD which has some great Cartoon Planet shorts.

I would hate to spam the board. I'm so hoping that by petitioning a formal folder for musicians seeking musicians that I can ask for players without fear of flame.

So what happens to suggestions anyway? Do they just stagnate here or does someone eventually weigh the pros and cons? Is it put to a vote or unilatarily decided upon?

Do suggestions ever get incorporated?

Thanks,

Carl

Bass Player(Rush,Yes,Crimson,BrandX etc..)looking to form or join original Prog/Rock and/or Jazz/fusion band.

I know some great musicians that may be interested. I'm looking for more. Vocals a plus. I have not a lead vocalist that I would care to use for this project yet. Lead Vox with musician skills is much prefered. I would love to have nice vocals but,I would prefer all instrumental rather then deal with a vocalist with bad atitude or abilities.

Opened to all instruments. No limits. Just nicely stuctured, intense music. The kind that takes you for a nice ride and leaves you feeling good.
