On my quest for "underappreciated" musicians I discovered some magnificent artists based in countries like Iran, Pakistan, Bosnia and Syria.
The first "discovery" I like to share with you is the Iranian guitarist Farzad Golpayegani. His music I would classify as "Prog Metal". On Farzad's website http://www.farzadonline.com/music.html you can download 4 tracks from his albums "One" and "Two". Farzad is not into track titles, so the downlodable tracks are simply called: 7, 30, 33 and 38. He also isn't into vocals (on his website he states that vocals are forbidden in Iran in the musical field he's operating in). But even without vocals the songs are varied and very adventurous. I think especially for prog metal fans track "38" is simply guitar heaven! Hope you like it! Just let me know what you think of this musician and his music. |

Nice blend of Middle Eastern music and metal, if you are guitar-oriented...
...but this guy published two albums so far and the third is on it's way! He certainly can not be "unsigned". |

I understand what you mean ... but - if I did understand this correctly - you can only buy his albums via the internet (and only when you live in Iran)! You can hardly call that "signed". Edit: But, if there will be decided that this topic has to be moved to another thread, I'm OK with that. I just like to make the PA community more aware of this artist. Clarke is right... but I'll leave this topic here for now.
Snow Dog and I have been talking about "independent" releases and for this matter I think it's better to evaluate case by case.
The real goal is to give exposure to new and/or unknown artists - IMHO one of the main subjects to be achieved by PA.
