Now this is more like it.  I chose the mechanical feel because it was the first thing that attracted me about the song, but I like the combination of every element (brutal heavyness, rhythm section, dissonant, etc.). The only thing that I'm not crazy about are the softer parts on the song.

I chose brutal heaviness, because Meshuggah are the band i put on when
i want something really brutal and angry and heavy. I don't normally
like unmelodic bands like this, but Meshuggah are an exception. I like
them very much.

The Time Signatures/Rhythm Section is what gets me high the most, but the whole piece is l'auxôme (french for LE AWESOME) of course!

Am I the first one to vote for Coherence? Of course the time signatures are beyond awesome and the brutal approach is more than welcomed, and the lyrics are great too... but it´s how good the song flows from riff to riff, from polyrhythm to ultra polyrhythm, from scream to scream... coherence is the key in any good epic, and this is no exception

I absolutely love how Thomas Haake can hit his snare and bass drums PRECISELY when Fredrick plays the percussive part on his guitar, and at the same time keep beat with the cymbal, like on the part starting around 16:54.... duh duhhhhh, duh duhhhh, duh duh duh duh daaaa!.... < that's how it goes.
And the chromatic-going-up part at about 13:39, awesome. Sounds like an engine trying to gain RPM, but Thomas Haake keeps beating it down with his drumset:
dun, dun dun (beh!) dun dun dun dun dun (betah!) dun dun dun..., etc.

The time signatures are awesome, and Tomas Haake is as usual a freak of nature on drums. He drums like an infernal machine, and I am pretty sure he isn't human.

4/4, 7/8, 3/8, 5/8, 2/8, and 9/8 assembled in random-like patterns, crammed into the most exhausting (in a good way), droning, intense intro I think I've ever heard to a single track or album. the signature changes something like 70 times one after the other - Then its straight 4/4 for the rest of the way, with that beautiful 'shuggah syncopation that sucks you into a semi-hynoptic state... i vote all equally essential in the makeup of the beast. amazing drumming / arranging, combined with some of the most 'individual' guitar tones to date. if you cant tell already, I'm a devotee to thy 'shuggah

I'd say the intro is the most interesting section of the album, also it's quite different from other Meshuggah albums, still very good but not quite as funky, unfortunately.
