I am one of the (few?) people who really enjoy music DVD's without all the extra stuff on it. One of my favourite DVD's is Green Carnation's "A night under the dam". The bonus material on this DVD is 10 minutes long or something like that.
In my opinion that's long enough.
My question to you is if you share my opinion, that if the concert is good, the rest of the DVD can be whatever.......?

Extra stuff is cool. You don't have to watch it.

Or do I not understnad the question?

What I mean is that a lot of reviewers put much too points in the DVD's extra stuff. I mean that  the concert should speak for itself.

IMHO you're right, if the concert is good, bonus material isn't much important. But if there are some bonus stuff, they're always welcome Smile

Well, personally I believe it's always nice to see some bonus material on a DVD, but in the end I normally don't watch it more than once (maybe twice if it's really good). If the bonus material consists of extra songs then it has a change of further playing in the future. A good example of this is the DT DVD "Metropolis 2000" where you get about an hour of bonus songs from the same concert. That's something that I can see many times. But "rockumentarys" (about how an album/tour came to be) or "behind the scenes"-material are not my cup of tea. So my opinion is: keep on throwing in bonus material but stay focused on what really matters: the MUSIC.

I agree completely.  I have a lot of DVDs where the concert is great but the bonus material sucks, but if the concert is great, they can put an hour long interview with the guy who hauls the band's equipment as the bonus material for all I care.  Of course I wouldn't watch that.  But I would still rate the DVD highly.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Of course bonus material of the same concert is more than welcome in my house. This is not an attack on bonus material...... It's just not eccential for a verdict on a DVD.

Bonus material is always welcome, but it's all about the concert material, and how it's presented.
