Hello! I'm an estonian chap who ejoys much different prog. Main influences and interests are from prog-metal though...Opeth, Riverside, Porcupine Tree, some DT and some of the more heavier stuff make my day. I originally (as many, I have heard) got into Music thanks to a great prog-related band called Iron Maiden and since then I've dived more and more 'deeper' into prog. Besides all this I would like to say ProgArchives is a superb site! Just excellent...Many thanks go to the people that keep it alive! Much influence has come from you! Thanks!

Thanks for the greet.

About the prog-scene here, shamefully prog's a rather unknown genre for most estonians. Still, we had/have a few good bands (in the seventies-eighties-nineties the scene was definately more active though), well, considering the low number of the population (there are less than 1,5 million people here, less than million of them estonian), you can say things are quite ok with the scene. Though...actually, the scene's really half-dead nowadays (the only name that springs to mind would be Echosilence), but in the past we have had such great prog-bands as In Spe, Sven Grünberg's MESS and the prog-related (there were some less proggy periods) Ruja (all these bands are on the site here as well and of course highly recommended by me). It's a great shame that even in Estonia it's really hard to get your hands on the self-titeled album by In Spe (the situation is pretty-much the same with this cd as with Höyry-Kone's and Änglagard's albums, basically, they don't make it anymore). MESS is also quite difficult to acquire... There's really great stuff coming from the neo-classical genre though (maybe you've heard of Arvo Pärt or Erkki-Sven Tüür (btw, he's formerly the leader of In Spe)). About the even more underground prog-stuff I don't have much knowledge. Well...that's about it for the prog-scene in Estonia.
