Let me preface this by saying that I'm not a fan of American Idol. My wife watches it and sometimes I'll stop if the singer's good or if the girl is especially hot (watched a lot of Kathryn McPhee last year). I must say, however, that Chris Daughtry consistently blew me away. Not only does the kid have a great voice, but he has a presence that told me that he was very comfortable on the stage. He also seemed like a 'musician' rather than just a singer.

A co-worker brought in his CD this week and I have to say that it's pretty good stuff! It's more in the modern rock genre like Fuel or Creed, but with a bit more melody. Checked out some You Tube videos and the guys can play some fine guitar, too.

I know American Idol is full of fluff; but, if this type of music appeals to you, deeply consider checking it out. Any thoughts or input?

I enjoyed watching Daughtry on American Idol, I think he does have a really good voice. I couldn't see myself actually buying his Cd, But if he came on the radio I wouldn't be so quick to turn it off. American Idol was a good stepping stone for Chris to get the exposure, But he really is so much better than all the singers past and present who have been on the show.
