I'm not sure if this is in the right spot and I apologize if it needs to be moved.

Question-
When an album is rated but not reviewed does the rating count the same as when it is reviewed? If someone goes through and gives a bunch of 1 star ratings of albums they dislike does it affect the album's rating the same as someone giving their detailed backed-up opinion on it?
Or is that worked out somehow that reviewed albums affect ratings more so or not so much.
Which way do you think works better? I think people should be more encouraged to write reviews than just rate the albums personally.

First of all, I'll move this to Help Improve the Site, because this is where it belongs.Wink

To answer your question: as far as I know, rating without reviews and those with reviews have the same weight - this is what causes certain people to post 1- or 5-star ratings without reviews in order to manipulate an album's rating. however, reviews written by Collabs have more weight than those written by ordinary members.

Erm ..... I might be wrong, but I believe there is a three tier system ....

Rating only > factor x1
Rating with review (ordinary member) > factor x2
Rating with review (Collabs/Admin etc) > factor x3
