Topic: Places in charts. Posted: January 20 2007 at 10:41 |
If you could have a little line on album pages saying where this album is in the chart of the year it was made it would be really good.
E.g. This album is ranked 74th for 1972. They have this on rateyourmusic.com and it is really helpful.

Well that would mean a hell lot of work for those who add albums as thins kind of information is usually not included in the materials inside the CD. Also there is not one supreme instance for this matter, there are so many charts, so this complicates things.

I think he means OUR charts, the ones generated by PA.
I support this fully btw.

If this is implemented it should also be limited to the genre of the album.

The idea isn';t bad, but in the end it's really useless, due to the large difference between number of reviews between albums.
The charts are only usefull for the top 100 albums at most, to quickely see which albums and bands are considered the top of the genre, but the rest of the chart info is rather useless.
Also it can provoke chart-pushing behaviour from fanboy's (or the opposite by others). And we must try to eliminate chart influenced ratings the ebst we can, and this will not contribute to that.
well something like that IMHO.

I see that albums with a low number of ratings can kind of ruin these things so why not exclude albums with less than say 10 ratings.
To Trikster F. Yes I meant just the charts on our site.
It would be good just to have the albums place in the chart of its genre somewhere near the album information on the album page.
