The Prog Rock community coming together to help where we can! ProgAID was set-up in the wake of the terrible earthquake and Tsunami disaster that tragically struck on the 26th December 2004. The sheer destruction and loss of human life was of a scale that shook the world. We considered what the Progressive Rock community could do, even in a small way, to help alleviate some of the suffering endured, and help towards the rebuilding of lives and communities. We have therefore decided to co-ordinate the recording of a CD single to help raise as much money as possible for those that need it. The song, titled 'All Around The World', will be recorded on the 29th and 30th January 2005, and since the decision was made, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many great musicians who have agreed to give their time to appear on the single. How about 'Do they it's Christmas' in seven movements all in 7/4?? Seriously though, this is brilliant news and the important thing is that a respectable amount of cash is raised for this cause. It's a shame that prog, generally doesn't sell that well, but every bit helps. I look forward to hearing it. We could do with a few more vets in there. A few members Rush, Rick Wakemen and of course Mr Lakes participation could really push this in the right direction. Edited by Blacksword |

From the website: Like countless other online communities, the membership of the Spock’s Beard message board was deeply saddened by the events this Christmastime in South Asia. After much discussion, an idea was born – “The Tsunami Project.” As a group, the forum decided to produce a CD made up of progressive music submitted by forum members, with all of the proceeds going to aid relief in the affected areas. But, upon seeing the tremendous support the project was garnering among their fans, several of today’s progressive rock superstars generously agreed to contribute music to the project as well. Artists contributing to the fan-based project include Nick D’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard, Tears for Fears), multi-instrumental solo artist Neal Morse (former front man for Spock’s Beard and Transatlantic), bassist Randy George (Ajalon, Neal Morse’s band), Mark McCrite (Rocket Scientists), New York-based progressive band IZZ and British proggers IQ. George’s band Ajalon will be providing a song that features Rick Wakeman on keyboards. Jimmy Keegan - tour drummer for Spock's Beard, is also contributing a brand new track to be written and produced by his brand new Power Trio project. All of the artists generously donated their time and music for this project. Conceived by forum member Barry Thompson, the project will encompass two discs of great progressive music, comprised mainly of contributions from the board members’ own bands and musical projects. The board has many experienced musicians among its membership, from all parts of the globe, making this a truly international project. In addition, forum member Brian Cobb will produce the album and maintain the website, while Martin Kornick will provide artwork production and helped to recruit several of the prominent musicians. |

Yeah Anderson & Wakeman are both on the "Major" release, but the reports I have heard say you can't tell...Unfortunately....The Song is called "Greif Never Grows Old" if I am not mistaken...
