A Jam is an improvised song on a basic structure and chord progression to start the jam. The song evolve in any direction, depends on teh musician creativity and their chemistry.

A Improvisation is NOT a song. It's a solo from an instrument that is created on the spot. Very Jazz influenced but you can find some live in Prog and rock bands. But there is no such Improvisation song, these are called Jams with solos! You can Jam a song without doing solo's too...you have to be very creative to captivate people with those!! This is a good test ;)

i think German Oaks song Down in the Bunker is an improvised song, i dont know for sure, but it sounds that way
