Sorry/Not Sorry

Mandate seems to be a popular word to abuse lately. All it means is that the people give their permission to the government to act on their behalf; anyone who wins in a democratic election has a mandate by definition. Many people seem to be using the word to mean something like "overwhelming percentage", which is obviously not the case either. But who expects either the government or media to stick with the boring truth?

anybody hear about the guy who killed himself at the WTC site because he was so upset that GWB got re-elected? Now that's taking it too seriously...he should have just stuck a "Sorry!" sign on his cat and taken a picture. The world would still probably think of him as sad, foolish or crazy, but at least he'd still be alive...

As hard as it will be for some to believe, the re-election of Bush will have it's benefits as well as it's disadvantages but as is the way with many media sources, bad news always sells better than good.

Aristotle has a lot to answer for.
