IMO soulseek is the best place for rare and ultra rare prog tracks dating as far back as the late 60s.  So if you want more prog, think about soulseek.  If you use it, why did you decide to get it?  Is there anything else similar to soulseek?  Better?  State opinions here.

I do indeed use soulseek.  My username is Aberfoyle321 if any of you are interested in checking out my 5000+ mp3s.

www.slsknet.org

It's a filesharing application with the useful feature that you can search the entire network, which makes finding rare tracks that much easier.

It's the best p2p program I've ever come across. It's great for dling unreleased radio comedy too (...if you're into that).

So, what are the chances of getting an infected file? Does soulseek have a virus scan? I ruined a hard drive with an infected MP3 from Kazaa, bastards!

I use Soulseek a lot and YES you can get infected files i have got the 'Trojan Horse' virus a few times from there! But my super duper virus scanner picked it up before it did any damage. I still wouldnt be without Soulseek despite that risk.

What virus scanner system do you use? Mine seems about 85% effective. Not enough, IMO.

Soulseek is the best P2P I've used, mainly because: a) there is a lot of rare prog and folk  b) It works rather well and it's user-friendly (unlike E-mule) and c) There is a lot of contact between users. I've got a lot of good recommendations from other users (mainly from Poland: there must be a good amount of proggers over there!).

And I've never got any virus from it. Lucky man I am!

By the way, my username is also Pacofox (I think)
