Sorry Paul, nothing I know here at all, with the probable exception of Kate Bush... I'll have to sit it out!

That's okay. I have a good feeling Kate Bush might just go on to win this poll, but I have a sinking feeling Weyes Blood won't pick up any votes at all. Wink

I've come to the conclusion that our listening habits are polar opposites and neither are probably very healthy. You've listened to everything on PA (and beyond) but only once, whereas I've listened to about 0.01% on PA but a minimum of 100 times each!! LOL

That certainly applies to this offbeat poll, where the only two albums I've listened to more than once are by Loreena McKennitt and Joni Mitchell. Smile

Joni, for so many miles I can't count (besides, I'm a km guy, but I'm digressing...)

Hey, we actually agree on the ratings for two of those six albums. Big smile

Despite this being Logan's run, I only know nine of these very well, but most of the following I have played many, many times (also listened to the Angel Olsen in full at least, but I can't recall any of the music in my head right now -- that said, I did just wake up -- actually heard that St. Vincent less than the others too):

Bjork - Homogenic
Kate Bush - the Dreaming
Pj Harvey - Is This Desire?
Anna von Hausswolff - Dead Magic
Joni Mitchell - Blue
St. Vincent - St. Vincent
Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs
Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
Chelsea Wolfe - Abyss

Of these, I consider the Bjork, Bush, Harvey, von Hausswolff, Mitchell, Sundfor and Weyes Blood to be particularly strong. My first thought was Bush, but while I don't care about the idea winners or losers in such thing (making sport of Art as Peter Rideout used to la, whereas I'm more apathetic when it comes to the idea), I do like to see a broader set of votes cast. I will give the sinking ship it's second vote even if I tend to like the following album even more still. And "Wild Time" off it is one of my very favourite songs. She may be the most important female artist to me these days and I do like that she is one of the few artists that I love that my wife also likes very much.

Love to see a "Paul's Psyched!" series at some time. Psyched is in very enthusiastic, just covering your favourite acts and that ones that have been worth multiple spins for you, Paul. A revisiting of your fondest friends musically-speaking, Be so nice to see walls of four and five star rated albums. :) Even if you did something like that before, you have listened to a lot since

By the way, when I love an album, I listen to it many, many times. Sometimes until I don't love it anymore. I'm OCD that way. I'm not so discography-oriented, but that has its advantages for sure and can give one feel for an artist's evolution, sometimes they return to old themes and reference old works, but then I think it takes multiple spins, at least for me, to truly appreciate and "grok".

Well, I hope you do consider that "Paul's Psyched!" poll where you only cover that which you know and love. I commonly love to see people discussing music that they know really well and are very passionate about, even if I don't share that enthusiasm. It often gives me a warm feeling. Much prefer that to music focuses that get the cold shoulder generally. And that can lead to some very spirited conversation even if it is because someone else does not hold it in such high regard. It's all good as long as one can have civil conversations, At the same time, of course you should follow your bliss and do the topics you want to do (within reason and rules if applicable). Of course I do very much appreciate that you came out with this series, and maybe I should try doing that Paul's Psyched! by only covering say one five star album by an act by you with 25 acts. That research would be easy as you make so many lists. I'd just make it the one poll probably. It's the least I could do considering the efforts you made with this series (so nice to get acknowledged and to see that someone has been paying attention).

I'm working in it now based on your five star reviews in your Prog Britannia reviews blog. Forgot how fine the work you did there was. Good reviews.

Joni was in fine form at last night's FireAid benefit concert held at the Kia Forum.

Thanks! I wish I still had time for writing album reviews but I'm too busy making endless lists these days. Tongue

By the way, the albums in my long-running series of Psychedelic Years polls are nearly all favourites of mine that I know and love, so you could consider them to be my "Paul's Psyched" polls. Smile

It is very very hard to pick any album that could snatch my vote away from The Dreaming; the history of humankind has maybe produced three such albums or so.
Homogenic is excellent and it's a pity that it's up against The Dreaming.
