The best use of "I don't get it" is to myself, anticipating the possibility that in fact I could "get" what I'm talking about in the future, and then optimally I may make another attempt that succeeds. That is progress, learning, broadening the horizon. It of course may not work. In any case I have to do the work myself.

I've spot the list just now, and while I can understand why you may not like Chamber Rock bands like Art Zoyd and Univers Zero, I find strange that you don't get the psychedelic elements in Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa (especially the first Mother's stuff). I also thought you may like Cardiacs and Wyatt. There's nothing wrong in not liking them, but perhaps there's something you "don't get".

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

^ I stand with Roger Waters and Joan Baez too (although I don't know who Victor Jara is) but Frank Zappa is too freaked out even for me. I've yet to find an Avant Prog artist I like, although Samla Manla's Mama comes pretty close.
