Yes, it does have that same New Wave post-punk aesthetic as Talking Heads.  I probably should have thought of it, but then Talking Heads I only thought of just before I posted this and deleted another to make space.  I really like pre-Discipline King Crimson, but Discipline never really appealed to me.  Mind you, I'm not big on Talking Heads either beyond some songs -- particularly Psycho Killer.  Qu'est-ce que c'est, one might say?  Maybe I should run, run, run, run, run, run, run away.  Now David Byrne solo has some stuff I love, as does Adrian Belew.

I've mentioned it in three other topics of late already (I do that), but one I have been into of late is Daughters' You Won't Get What You Want from 2018.  This is more Noise/ Industrial/ Post-Punk Rock than Prog but I do tend to place such music under the progressive rock banner even if it's more some kind of alternative rock. But whatever, prog shmog.  Prog as a genre does not hold that much interest to me musically and I tend to favour music that could fall under  loose prog umbrealla, but I digress

Reading "punky prog", my first thought was "Cardiacs" even before seeing the list.

Nothing screams Pronk more than Cardiacs, imo. At least as a style-thing, cause I can scream "Pronk!" pretty loud.

I like how it was put here in terms of the Cardiacs album I went with.

I really like that Cardiacs album. It’s almost like Post Punk cross pollinating with Prog. I’m a Punk guy with an interest in Prog, so I find it to be a great middle ground sort of album.

I ten to think of my town Vancouver as punk town.  I heard Cardiacs played on university radio decades ago, as well as things like Pere Ubu.

Oh, I had wanted to include Tuxedomoon' got quite vicious with trying to limit to 25.  Be nice to do a seperate poll with them, The Residents, Renaldo and the Loaf, Snakefinger.... You know, some of the really good stuff (depending on tastes of course).
