This is largely a usual kind of suspects from me list and I have covered music from all of these albums in past polls, but I wanted to collect some of my absolute faves using two tracks from two albums per five year period (like 1965-1969, 1970-1974, 1975-179 etc.), with one for each five year period that is included in PA and one that is not. I still decided to do this in Prog polls because this covers progressive music and there is no clear diving line between what is Prog and what is not in this list or with music often and it is enough in PA to be just permissible by old standards (best not to make a habit of it, I guess).

East of Eden "Moth" (Mercator Projected, 1969)
Nick Drake "River Man" (Five Leaves Left, 1969)
Spirogyra "The Furthest Point" (Bells, Boots and Shambles, 1973)
Leonard Cohen "Avalanche" (Songs of Love and Hate, 1971)
Far East Family Band "Kokoro" (Parallel World, 1976)
Wire "I Should Have Known Better" (154, 1979)
Kate Bush "Night of the Swallow" (The Dreaming, 1982)
Joy Division "Decades" (Closer, 1980)
Camberwell Now "Working Nights" (The Ghost Trade, 1986)
Siouxsie & the Banshees "The Sweetest Chill" (Tinderbox, 1986)
Swans "Love Will Save You" (White Light From the Mouth of Infinity, 1991)
Komeda "Borgo" (Pop pa Svenska, 1993)
Cardiacs "Dirty Boy" (Sing to God, 1996)
Boards of Canada "Aquarius" (Music Has the Right to Children, 1998)
Radiohead "Pyramid Song" (Amnesiac, 2001)
Juana Molina "El perro" (Segundo, 2000)
Coil "Fire of the Mind" (The Ape of Naples, 2005)
Portishead "The Rip" (Third, 2008)
William D. Drake "Me Fish Bring" (The Rising of the Lights, 2011)
Beach House "Wishes" (Bloom, 2012)
Anna von Hausswolff "Discovery" (The Miraculous, 2015)
Lingua Ignota "May Failure Be Your Noose" (Caligula, 2019)
black midi "Dangerous Liaisons" (Hellfire, 2022)
Bruno Pernadas "Step Out of the Light" (Private Reasons, 2022)

A playlist:

Please vote for three tracks..., or more, or less, it doesn't really matter, but just one vote per track please. And feel free to mention other suggestions from the albums. Hardly an original list from me, but all stuff I love.

Night of the Swallow, Working Nights, Me Fish Bring. On the bench are Dirty Boy, Aquarius, Pyramid Song. Could have nominated Moth, River Man, Fire of the Night on another day.

Many good ones, and I have to vote for the master Leonard Cohen. Will ignore some other great artists/tracks that will get their votes (Kate Bush, Cardiacs, Radiohead) to give two highly original ladies a vote: Juana Molina and Anna von Hausswolff.

Thanks all, and I'll vote for several with no votes.

First off, I am surprised that Spirogyra's "The Furthest Point" has no votes yet. Not only do I love it, but I think this is a brilliant classic track of Prog Folk. And I will go with Lingua Ignota's. It's harsh, and it gets me every time. That man screaming in the background reminds me of me at one time with my wife when not at all chill. We stopped shouting at each other after one of our kids brought it up. For a third, I am tempted to go with Coil's, Bruno Pernadas, Komeda's or Portishead's, but I will go with the Beach House song. Beach House was one of my most significant discoveries this past summer, and I have listened to the album Bloom many, many times now. The odd music video that goes with "Wishes" does enhance the experience for me -- it features the actor who played Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks and I became a huge Twin Peaks fan some years ago after The Return came to air.
