BIO:

ViaMedia is a British-Norwegian band that writes, records and performs music that is adventurous, creative and tries to avoid any form of orthodoxy.

We are equally inspired by post progressive, art rock, cinematic music and contemporary classical

ViaMedia has since early 2022 been busy composing and recording a new album which we call “Bridge of Sighs”.

Reference points may be Radiohead, Steven Wilson, David Sylvian, Shearwater, Talk Talk, Bjork, Efterklang…. but still uniquely us !

We are;

• Karl Yngvar Dale – vocals, bass, double bass, keyboards, acoustic guitar

• Tore Dimmestol – vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, FX

We work with some very talented and like-minded people, including

·       Craig Blundell (Steve Hackett, Steven Wilson, Frost*....) – drums and percussion

·       John Mitchell (It Bites, Arena, Kino, Frost*, Lonely Robot, John Wetton Band…) – production, electric guitar

·       Jeff Oster – (Grammy-nominated American musician) - flugelhorn

·       Lyndon Owen (Big Clutch, Plague Doctors...) - saxophones, bagpipes, and tarogato

·       Jacob Lupo-Holm (White Willow, Opium Cartel…..) – production, synth

·       Emma King - vocals

Karl & Tore are originally from the picturesque Norwegian town of Ålesund

Ålesund’s beautiful scenery and frequently poor weather has provided ample inspiration and time to hone our composition and musician skills.

Karl & Tore have been playing in bands together on and off since they were teenagers, starting with New Wave band Betrayed, releasing records and playing outdoor festivals to audiences of thousands at the age of seventeen. Clearly we believed then that global stardom beckoned!

ViaMedia has performed on Norwegian TV, as ViaMedia and also under the name of Ikea Akbar (our commercial house pseudonym) and had tracks released under that name on the Rock Furore label

Tore has also released the electronic album “Bird Colony” on Norwegian record label Origo Sound under the name of Eyeman Reel

Hi, and welcome.

If you want your band to be accepted for this site, then the band should be submitted to the Suggest New Bands and Artists forum for a team to see and pick up for evaluation. Here are the guidelines: CLICk

I checked this out: https://orcd.co/lnvr57p I guess you're not on bandcamp, various team members like to use that to evaluate the whole album (for me I tend to like to use youtube for streaming full albums).

Here is a direct link to the youtube playlist for the album: streaming album

I tried to look your bandcamp up on rateyourmusic but did not find an entry (that's of course afvery significant music site).

I would suggest Crossover as the category here based on my limited listening, which commonly fits much post-prog/art rock outfits. I first read it as post-rock, lol, so I was not expecting such song based mainstream-leaning music. I am a sucker for a big building crescendo.

Logan, thanks! I think you are right - Crossover is the right subgenre for us.

The album can be found on Bandcamp at
https://viamedia.bandcamp.com/album/bridge-of-sighs

There is an EP also;

We have not been on Rateyourmusic.com yet. A quick searched there showed that we have not been rated there by a 3rd party yet either.

Cheers!

Tore
