I like it, but I cannot put it right into one genre. Tell me what do you think, meanwhile I'll be looking for some data and photos. Edited by Heart of the Matter - February 01 2024 at 04:40 |

It's another project of Argentinian composer and multi-instrumentalist Aldo Pinelli, who is the brains behind Hábitat, which we already have here in Crossover Prog. He has released a number of solo albums too, and they're all on Bandcamp: https://proyectosaldopinelli.bandcamp.com/music.
He has also released a later album as Invernalia called 'Tenebras' (2021), which you posted a link to in Prog Recommendations/Featured albums in March 2022: https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=128730. Edit: Embedded the hyperlinks for the three Proggnosis pages. That website's interpretation of the sub genre for Invernalia is: "Symphonic Italian School (Prog)".

Here's his biography from https://www.aldo-pinelli.com/:
BIO - English Aldo Pinelli’s trio has been playing since 1990. Whilst on holidays with a group of friends in the Atlantic Coast of Buenos Aires, he played some classic guitar repertoire. They all agreed that his music was very beautiful. Their comments led him to the idea of playing live, integrating keyboards and flute. In May of that year, Pinelli performed his first concert and later again in May and September of 1991. His music reflected the influence of the classical style acquired during his conservatory days, and also that of the Celtic, the ancient music and the impressionist period. Ten years on, in 2001, Pinelli revived the project, seriously thinking about making a CD which included those same old songs. The process started slowly, but meanwhile he wrote some more arrangements for the other instruments. Some changes of musicians took place and Pinelli established the new band formed totally with women. Since 2002 concerts have been going on and clothes for the shows are carefully selected. This time he included also a woman on percussion. This is an experience of a merger Prog Music, Ambient, Celtic and Antique Music. After dissolving HÁBITAT in 2021, the progressive electric band that he led for years, Pinelli started a new band: INVERNALIA, with which he began to give concerts in April 2022, continuing in parallel with his solo band. In October of that year he played in Spain for first time and also in Italy. During 2023 he played several concerts in medieval fairs and other scenarios, waiting for the release of NORDISKA VATTEN in January 2024 by Lizard Records Italy, the new album inspired during his stay in Sweden. Maybe you could get his permission to use it (if Invernalia is accepted here) rather than having to write your own version? Invernalia band photo, taken June 2023 (that image is in .webp format - see below for .jpg version). Hope that helps. Edit: All three Invernalia releases (and available supported links) are now on AwesomeProg: https://awesomeprog.com/artists/22537.

^ Of course it helps, thanks David! I think I'm going to write my own adapted version, just to prevent any copyright issue.

BIO
INVERNALIA is a group project created by multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer Aldo Pinelli, who began his musical career playing classical guitar with a trio since 1990, in the Atlantic Coast of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Laudatory comments led him to add keyboards and flute to the ensamble. He received classical influence from his conservatory lessons, as well as from the Celtic, the ancient music and the impressionist period. In 2001, Pinelli released a CD including those old songs. Then he established a new band, formed exclusively with women. Since 2002 concerts have been going on, including outfits carefully selected for the shows. This time he included also percussion, merging Prog Music, Ambient, Celtic and Antique Music. Meanwhile, he founded the band HÁBITAT, and in 2015 he released the self-titled debut instalment of INVERNALIA. After dissolving HÁBITAT in 2021, Pinelli resumed INVERNALIA, releasing the sophomore Tenebras, and playing live since April 2022, mantaining also his solo band. In October 2022, they played in Spain for first time and also in Italy. During 2023 they played live in medieval fairs and other venues, waiting for the release of NORDISKA VATTEN in January 2024 by Lizard Records Italy.
